We all follow a path and lead a journey, and the Raven is no different. Meet Max and Sheena, the dynamic duo behind the Raven Compound in Scotch Creek, BC. They wear many hats—owners, operators, product designers, testers, world travelers, and beloved community members.
Their adventure began years ago in the lively world of CrossFit in Canmore. Like many spirited entrepreneurs, they started by marketing themselves and hitting competitions across Canada, proudly repping their apparel brand. As they competed, their brand gained traction, and they dedicated themselves to testing their clothing against their intense lifestyles. Months of fine-tuning ensured their apparel would live up to the Raven name—durable enough for rigorous workouts, including CrossFit and yoga sessions, able to withstand sanitization washes, and, most importantly, comfortable for every body.
Max took the brand on an exciting detour to Maui, where it caught the eye of a semi-pro surfer looking for the perfect pair of shorts—something that could handle ocean waves while being comfy enough for CrossFit training. To the average Joe, it might just sound like shorts, but for Max, it was a challenge and an opportunity for innovation. These shorts needed to be resilient, stylish, and ready for anything.
When COVID-19 swept the globe in 2020, it brought everyone back to their roots and families. Max made the journey from sunny Maui to a close-knit community of just 3,500 people, where his family has lived for over 25 years. Since settling in the North Shuswap, they’ve created a welcoming hub for locals to gather, snack, and shop for workout clothing and stylish athleisure. Their clothing store is not just a shop; it’s a celebration of the fashion of fitness—offering everything from workout attire to cozy yoga wear.
